Blocks are the simplest way to buy chalk. Each one is a pressed brick of magnesium carbonate that you crumble into a chalk bowl, bag or box when you need it. The pack of eight lasts a long time for one lifter, or covers a home gym shared with a training partner.
Broken down, the blocks give a mix of powder and small lumps. The lumps are handy for rubbing straight on the palm before a heavy pull. You can also crush a block into a refillable chalk ball.
